With being gone so long Carmen lost her job in the local dinner. Carmen has begged for her job back there but it seems as if the owner will not let her back. Today Carmen decided with her lovely new truck to take a little ride up to eastside mall to look for a job. Carmen was thinking about getting a job up here before but she did not want people from school to see her but this was the last resort if she wanted to keep her truck. When Carmen was in the parking lot she took a minute to think to pray she did not have to get some stupid job that no one wants to-do it would be bad enough that people would have to see her working but some odd costume that would not happen.

As Carmen made her way up to the entrance she also began to thinking ‘Lord please help me get a job.’ But by mistake she said that out loud. “Great” She said to herself. Then slowly walked in the door. It had been awhile since she had been in this mall. Carmen had not been in this mall since she moved back she got all her clothing from little shops around town. Or when felt like it she would go to little thrift stores. That is where she gets most of her favorite outfits from and for cheap. In fact she was wearing her second favorite outfit from the thrift store. "Well here i go" Carmen said to herself.

The mall was the center of almost all teenage activity...that was if you were normal. Allison on the other hand was not. This had been her first trip to the mall since her back to school shopping trip her father takes her on before school every year. She was really only here for some Jodi Picoult books at the book store. She examined the teenagers as she passed them the ones she knew stared at her and walked away in shock, you see Allison was rarely ever spotted at the mall.

It was strange looking at all of the latest fashions not that she cared, beauty was not anything she spent her time on and many could tell by her argyle sweater which by the looks was out of style. Entering the book store the sales associate asked if she could help her and Allie just shook her head no, she knew the concepts of alphabetical order perfectly fine and she could probably find the book without any help from the lady just as fast. In but a few seconds she had the book she had oh so desperately wanted. She smiled making her one and only purchase.

She walked out of the bookstore again people staring well at least fellow classmates. She headed towards the entrance well the exit in her case, she didn't need anything else and wasn't planning on any clothing shopping or music shopping. She finally reached the entranced it felt like it was possibly the longest walk ever but it was only a few yards. A familiar face stood at the door. Carmen was a year younger than her they had seen each other in the cafeteria at school and in hallways but never were really acquainted. Carmen was unpopular like herself but it seemed to affect her more than it did Allie. "Hi long time no see." Meaning haven't seen you in about 10 hours it was meant to be a joke.

”O hay you.”Carmen said to her. Carmen had never really met this girl before. She had seen her before but could not tell where she had. If it was at school or at the dinner. “I am sorry to be rude but um well do I know you and if so last time I checked people don’t normally talk to me so are you lost or something?” Carmen asked feeling embarrassed see that the girl knew her but Carmen did not know her back. Carmen then took off her hat and put it back on backwards as she normally did when she was confused.
As she waited for the girl to answer she just stood there and looked at her trying to think of who it was. She must have met her before as it appeared the lovely young lady new her. “I am so sorry I am being so rude right now it’s just I know you at least I think I do I just don’t know where from.” Carmen apologized again. This was really starting to bother Carmen.

Another one of Allie's sharp senses was memory, man that girl had a a hell of a memory, actually everything that had to do with the brain was her forte. "Cafeteria, I think we actually met for about a minute and I never gave you my name but I got yours." She explained her tone was the same tone she used in class at school smart sounding one completely her own. "Well if know one talks to you I think I am in the right place." She paused to look at her short nails bitten almost to the pink. "I am a Junior but I am also known as the school nerd." She said with a laugh. "So I never get talked to as well." This was cool although she was younger not that it mattered they were both on the same social status and she liked.

Thinking of what she was missing this was possibly the first thing she had actually forgotten in her life. "Speaking of rude you are not at the moment I am my name is Allison, Allison Hermione Delancy but I like to be called just plain Allie." She said with a warming smile. "It's a pleasure to actually get to talk to you Carmen." She said with a laugh.

”O ya right I knew that.” Carmen said with a giggle. “Well if it makes you feel better I am a nerd too. I am in mostly junior classes even though I am only a sophomore.” Carmen told her. This chick seemed like an ok gal. She seemed to not care about what other people thought about her. This was obvious to Carmen because it you read her message thing to go to her voice mail you would know that Carmen did not talk to many people. Really no one unless she was tutoring, working, or if it was Erin Baker and well she did talk to Michelle Carter a little while on the island.

Carmen then stretched out her hand to shake. “It’s nice to talk and meet you too Allie.” Carmen said with a smile. This was truly Carmen’s kind of gal real laid back now if only she would only lose the sweeter and the shoes and she would be perfect to be friends with her. “So what books did you get?” Carmen asked her when she saw that she had books in her hand.

"Well I am glad I'm not the only one." She was happy to be in the presence of someone who had thoughts that made sense well more than sense in other words she was happy to be in the presence of another smart person. "I am trying hard this year, I want to be valedictorian next year." She smiled maybe she would actually discuss things she liked with Carmen, maybe she would make a friend for once. "Well it's good you are taking junior classes and don't let their comments bother you be yourself." So far it was going good.

Allie gripped her hand firmly, it was of course the polite thing to do. She nodded as they shook hand and then let go. Carmen asked what books she got...this was definitely the kind of person she could actually hang with. "Um a few Jodi Picoults, I read My Sister's Keeper and fell in love with her writing so I decided to get Salem Falls and The Tenth Circle." She explained her purchases, her father had given her 40$ to spend which was rare, most girls would spend it on clothes and jewelry but when the money was placed in her hands earlier today she was sure of what she was going to buy.

”O my god I love The Tenth Circle I think it is one of her best she wrote like the other ones were good too but I feel in love with this one.” Carmen told her this was the first person she met that really read books for fun. And she had good taste in them also. “Well for me sadly I am here to look for a job to pay for my baby. And by baby I mean my new car it’s that orange truck over there.” Carmen told her then pointed in the direction of her baby. “I just got it last month and well that beat up truck cost a lot of money.” Carmen admitted to her. “Because sadly my boss at the dinner fired me because I was stuck on an island!” Carmen basically screamed at her. “Sorry I just want to kill him right now.” Carmen explained to her trying not to scare her off. “So um well…”Carmen said trying to get off the subject.

"Really? Was it like incredible?" She asked with a giggle. "I know I get crazy when it comes to books and Jodi is my favorite author, I think I might start it tonight." She added hearing that it was a good book got her hyped up if this book was as good as My Sister's Keeper it would definitely top her favorites list. "Who else do you read?" She asked beaming she was officially a very happy camper. When she heard baby her eyes widened and her mouth opened, but she laughed when she heard car. "Oh I thought you were, you know." She laughed again realizing the thought was a bit unrealistic a nice girl like Carmen most likely wouldn't get into trouble. "I'm sorry where are you looking?" She asked with a cocked left eyebrow. She had a job herself only to help out the family and to pay for college. "I would too." She said with a grin. "Do you have AIM?"

Carmen really loved her car for it being a big piece of crap. “Um well yes I do I do not go on it much but well you know how I told you I am a romance freak well my um screen name is helpless_romantic because I may read it I may help others with it but it seems like I will never find love myself.”Carmen told her

"Romeo and Juliet was ingenious I agree, I like poetry but I also like the big novels like Gone With the Wind and The Portrait of a Lady." Those two books were tough but she enjoyed them. "I also like romance novels like Nicholas Sparks fell in love with a Walk to Remember." Nicholas was her break writer if she was reading a huge project she would take small breaks with him just to break up the novel size. "My absolute favorite book is Cold Mountain a bit of romance and a lot of history."

Allison nodded, she understood why Carmen thought so much of her car she was lucky to have one. If Allison wanted to go anywhere without her father she had to take his car...and that was only when he let her which he did most of the time Allie was a very trustworthy young woman. "Mine is allie_cat." It was a play on words using her name she came up with it when she was thirteen. "I am sure you will, you see I am sure I won't because I want to concentrate on my future and stuff." She laughed. "My goal is to go to Harvard or Yale and become a lawyer."

”A loving woman like your self will easily find love. Someone once great said The only true love you find is the love you find when you are not looking for it.” Carmen said to her with a giggle because what the girl did not know was that Carmen was the one who came up with that idea. “And also I will have you know I am very serious about my future. I may not know what collage I am going to go to but I know what I want to do with my life.” Carmen informed her. “Just because I act and look like I don’t care about my future dose not mean i don't.” Carmen told the girl. Many people thought Carmen did not care about her future because she did not talk about it much but she had reason for that. She did not want to have her whole life planed out then have something happen to it and because she did not want people to make fun of her. She was very serious about what she wanted to do and in the area of work she wanted to be in you had to be.

"Why thank you." She said with a smile. "But I don't want to that's the difference, too many tears and such I hate sad things and love is almost 90% failure which always ends up in tears." She said seriously. "More than half of marriages end in divorce." She added she didn't have a mother but it was certainly not because of divorce or anything like that for a matter of fact her parents loved each other very much what happened was just a sad coincidence. "I knew it, I could tell by your ambition in wanting to achieve being in Junior classes when you are a sophomore, the only reason I know is because I am graduating next year plus it is what I do with my time...plan my future." That is all she could do, when you had no friends and no mom you read planned your future something like that.

"I could see you becoming an ambitious writer of romance novels or epics, I could also see you as an English teacher definitely something to do with lit." She added with a sure tone of voice. "I am 100 percent completely sure you will succeed." She knew this girl was serious about her future showed on her face, in her tone her emotion.

”I am going to be honest with you every few people know this but when I was five years old I was adopted. So I do not even know my mother or my father. And then a few years ago my adopted parents split up. And well my adopted mom she was not much of a mother to me so I went to live with my adopted father and well it was the middle of the school year but my dad and I had to get away. So we moved to Arizona. And well at the time we had no money so we were stuck in this ugly trailer park. And well then my dad met someone else and she wanted to move her so here I am.” Carmen told her. “And also I don’t want to be any of those things I want to be a crime scene investigator. Carmen said to her. Wow carmen though to her self i just told this chick all my secrets.

"Wow that is tough." She said a bit sad that she had mentioned divorce. "I am sorry I mentioned it I guess it is worse than you think." Although having your mother die is pretty tough. She sighed heavily. "Well, since you told me that I feel more than obligated to tell you what happened to me, no one knows this." She paused. "Listen, my mother died when I was four years old she drowned in a lake she was swimming and a storm started they couldn't get out in time to save her." She also listened to Carmen saying that she and her father had no money that scenario was similar to what she and her father went through. "For the longest time that's what happened to us but now my father is a huge architect." She explained, she did have a nice sum of money well her father did but she didn't want anyone knowing that.

"Really? That is really cool sort of like Nancy Drew or Agatha Christie novels." She said with a laugh. "That is like really awesome so much mystery so much adventure that would be a totally suspenseful and entertaining job."

”Ya well I another thing people do not know about me is that I wear thrift choose to buy my outfits from thrift stores which is not wired but I what no one knows is that my family is very very very rich.” Carmen told her. “The only other person that knows I am rich is my friend Erin Baker. Also I am sorry about your mom. I understand for the most part what it is like growing up without a mom. Even more so when it comes to boys only because my stepmom well and my dad are always working and always have been and more than likely always will I am home alone a lot but I like being alone it gives me time to think. That is the only reason I want a job so I can pay for my car and so I have something to do.” Carmen told her. Carmen could not believe how much she was telling her. “Hey can you do me a favor can you not tell anyone about anything I am telling you I don’t want people feeling bad for me and I am sure you are the same you know with your mom and all. Also you need to keep the rich thing on a big down low I don’t want people to like me for my money that is why I got the cheap truck to not look rich without looking poor. That is also part of the reason I dress the way I do.” Carmen explained to her. Carmen was beginning to think how nice it is to talk to a girl not just Erin all day.
