The library was quiet today, there was not many people in here. The way Jackson preferred it to be, but then his life has always been quiet. Jackson was born deaf, but used hearing aids to assist him in hearing some background noises. His aids were not as good as they were when he was first starting at Eastside. Jacks walked to his usual table; the table were most of the Lit and Writing Club members sat to conduct their meetings. It was a lovely old oak table, big enough to hold eight to ten people around it. The table was decorated in years of graffiti from all the students who have come and gone throughout the years. Jacks arrived at the table, he threw down his bag and took a seat. He pulled his bag from where he has thrown it, he removed his notebooks, calculator and a large pile of post it notes. Jackson had this thing about post it notes when it came to his treasurer duties. He had been a little behind over the last few weeks. Jackson had been watching the news and wondering what happened to his fellow studies. Sadly, Jackson was unable to attend the trip to Lundy due to a family emergency. A part of him was happy but he was worried about his fellow school mates at the same time...

His mother had the television on 24/7 during the island landing. She must have prayed that her son was not there at the present moment. He remembered her calling the other parents checking on if they had received any news. Jackson shook his head and pulled himself back into the present. He looked around to see if any of his fellow club members were around today. He smiled, as one was coming towards him...

Kennedy was in the library for her free period. It was a nice day and she did consider going out, but decided against it. She wanted to catch up on some reading and maybe write a little in her notebook of short stories. Most of her short stories were unfinished becasue as she was writing one she'd get a new idea for a completely different story. This was why she preferred short stories over long novels. She would never be able to write a novel with her imagination.
She signed in at the front desk and looked at the computers, a few people were on them- not doing work of course. Most kids came to the library to go onto either myspace or facebook. Kennedy walked along the back of the library. She was in there so much that she could notice a new book on the shelves without any knowledge of there being a new book. There was nothing new that interested her. She clutched her notebook in her arms and walked towards the tables in the library and saw a familiar face. It was Jackson. She smiled and walked towards him. She met Jackson last year through literary club she loved talking to people who had the same passions as she did. "Hey" she said and signed it as well. Kennedy took sign language as her foreign language class. She had been fascinated with sign language since she read the story of Helen Keller. Kennedy knew Jackson had a hearing aid, but she figured he'd appreciate her knowledge of sign language.
