 It was Kennedy's lunch period, instead of going to the cafeteria she went to the back of the school and into the courtyard. It was empty mainly because it was the first week of school and students were either still trying to find out who was in their lunch to eat with or had class. Kennedy took a seat on a bench an watched the fountain. She enjoyed have some time to herself, but she was beginning to feel hungry. To keep herself busy, Kennedy took out a book-- The Kite Runner. She was more than half way through it already and to her surprise was still enjoying it. Kennedy usually didn't enjoy long novels, and preferred reading and writing short stories and poems.
She let her mind veer off of the story, but continued to read even though the words were no longer registering in her mind. She was thinking about Aiden, her new friend, and Katherine, who was one of her closest friends in her grade, she also thought about her other friends and how she felt that this year was different. Now she cared so much about their opinions of her. Were they really her friends or were they just being nice? How many of these friends were going to stay close after graduation? After losing the class president election last year, Kennedy has spent so much time preparing for this year- but did it still matter? What did matter anymore? In two years she'd be leaving this school behind and probably most of the people in it. She sighed. She didn't want to think about that anymore. She redirected her attention to the fountain and then back to the book.

She always tried to sunk food out of the lunch room but never succeeded but it was the first day of school so maybe she would get away with it. And to Katherine surprise she did. Now she ran into the problem as to where she was going to hang out. But then she saw her good friend Kennedy. Kennedy and Katherine had not been friends for that long ever since then end of last year so she did not know her all that well but well enough. “Hey what up Kennedy.” Katherine basically screamed across the court yard Katherine never really was quiet not even during class. When Katherine final reached the bench Kennedy was sitting on she took a seat next to her. “Would you like some food?” Katherine offered.

"Katherine!" Kennedy yelled back with a wave and a smile. She put her book away as Katherine walked over and sat next to her. "Oh, no thanks" Kennedy said after Katherine offered. Kennedy took a moment to pull her eyes off of the food and back to katherine's face. "So, how's your first day going?" she said with a hint of a smile. Kennedy's first day back was going good so far. All of her classes were interesting so far- besides American history and her teachers were nice. In fact, her English teacher was the first teacher kennedy has ever had that didn't refer to her as her brother's sister which was a pleasent surprise. But then again- the teacher was new.

Katherine hated school. It was not too bad the first couple of days just till they started getting homework. Katherine never knew why she despised school so much she just did. “Any who how is your so far?” Katherine asked hoping she had something interesting to say.

"My day has been good, I'm glad to be back, I missed seeing everyone" Kennedy said and smiled. That was a difference her and Katherine had, Kennedy loved school while Katherine could easily go without it. "I wish I didnt have to take math though, I'm so not excited about that and I have it next period." she said and looked at the time on her phone.
"Hey Kath, do you know of any back to school parties? I wanna start planning my birthday party but I don't want it to interfere with anyone's plans." She said. Kennedy had a September Birthday, and she constantly had to worry about annual back to school parties, especially the James' sister's party. "I really wanna have a big party this year, not like last years" Last year was Kennedy's sweet sixteen- it was huge, but there was alot of family there. This year she wanted to have a bash.. maybe even a pool party. Her house was perfect for having parties- and her older brother was known for the parties he through. "I wanna top every party, do you want to help me plan it?" she said with a grin

She was not big on Carmen she did not know why she just did not like her. She hated even more how smart she was. “Well I heard the this girl Carmen she was in math class I told you about and this other sophomore I think her name is June or something like that are having one on the 26th of this month now get this these two sisters also are throwing a party they are freshmen and they are known for throwing amazing parties and there’s is on the same night.” Katherine told her. She just found out about it last period she loved all the drama that was going on. “And ya I will totally help you plan your birthday party.” Katherine told her.

Kennedy laughed at the 'know-it-all' comment. She knew who Katherine was talking about, but she didn't really mind Carmen, she was actually planning on going to that party. "Well.. I don't think they need anymore competition, when do you think I should have my party? The week before of after?" she said and rested her chin in the palm of her hand thought about how awesome her party is going to be. "Andrew has a fake ID and her promised to get booze for the party!" Kennedy said with a smile. HEr and her brother had a bet that who ever got the first job won and the loser had to pay. If Kennedy lost, she would've had to pay for Andrews car insurance and gas for two months, but of course KEnnedy won. She got a job at Barnes and Noble the first week of summer. Now Andrew had to buy all the alchohol for the party. "And my mom is actually cool with it!, As long as my dad doesn't find out." She said and grinned. Her dad was going to be away for the entire month doing flights, and Kennedy was deeply gratefull.

She was more so of a party goer in her mind. “Awesome.” Katherine told her when she said Andrew had a fake ID and would buy the alcohol for the party. Katherine herself did not really drink or anything she had maybe a cup but no more than that. “See now that is why I love your mom she has no care about what us kids do. She is hilarious.” Katherine told her. She only met her mom once but she liked her she was not typical mom. Unlike Katherine’s mom she would kill her if Katherine had alcohol in the house. Even more so around Adrienne. That is why she never drank a lot of it so when she came home she would not be drunk or anything like that.
