Maggie stared at her desk. She couldn't believe how long French was. She was really never going to use it but she still had to take it. Once she looked up at the clock she noticed that she had at least five minutes left. She sighed and pushed some of her hair behind her ear. She wondered what class Ryan and Jake had. It was already the second day and Maggie was already tired of school.
She looked up at the clock and noticed she had 20 seconds left of the boring class. She slipped her books into her bag and pulled it onto her shoulder. She looked around the classroom and noticed that no one else was getting ready to leave. Maggie stood up right away when she heard the bell ring. She quickly left the room trying to avoid the clutter. Maggie made her way towards the cafeteria to notice that neither Ryan or Jake were there. She sighed and walked over to get her food.
She grabbed her food and looked around for an empty table. Maggie found a small table in the corner. She quickly rushed over hoping no one would grab it before her. She slid into a seat and placed her food tray on the table. Maggie sighed and looked around for her brother.

Five. Five more minutes until the Bell rang, then he'd walk away from this very confusing assignment and head for Lunch. Lunch wasn't exactly better but he actually could talk to someone there. The teacher wasn't mean or anything but no One there was including him in their little whispery chats. There wasn't even a single sheet paper thrown at him saying hi. Actually, there was but it didn't say hi. Why did he have to take Science anyway? It wasn't bad but the teacher was too much in deph and he barely got to te cell makeup when everybody else was just completing notes on the differences between Prokaryotes and Eukaryotes.
Sheesh, at least Maggie would be happy to see him. His Sister usually cheered him up. DIIINNNG! Finally! Ryan carefully put up his half-finished notes and headed to his Locker. The usual crowd was just standing there talking away and blocking him from it. This happened TOO OFTEN. He just forgot about it and headed to the Cafeteria, notebook in hand. Maggie was already there, great. After quickly setting his notebook on the table where she was sitting and smiling at her, he got his food and headed back to join his Sister.
"Hi." He greeted softly. Ryan thought she was also waiting for someone else and didn't want to be a burden when whoever it was got there. He just sat quietly and started eating.

Maggie pulled out her notebook and start going over some notes for her next class. She chewed on some carrots hoping to keep her mind off the things happening around her that she wasn't included in. Maggie was considered a dork because she was really smart and didn't like to be involved in a lot of things. And another reason why was because she is in a foster home and her foster brother was the same age as her which some people find weird. But Maggie didn't care.
She picked up another carrot as she turned the page in her book. Maggie looked up when she heard something. She saw her brother Ryan sitting down. "Hey Ry!" Maggie said as she put her notebook back onto the table. "How has your day been?" She asked.

Ryan allowed himself to swallow a carrot before answering. "Good." His reply was a little louder than his hi but still soft. He desperately wanted to ask his Sister what she thought about him trying to reach out to others but didn't know how to say it. Maggie wasn't usually One to get mad at that sort of question but people didn't know how anyone would react these days. There had to be some sort of way he could ask it without a direct statement. He took a bit out of another carrot. Ryan personally thought carrots were too sweet when cooked and too hard when raw. However, he had almost finished his main dish and was still hungry. Well, it was better than nothing. suddenly, he realized he didn't ask Maggie how her day was.
"And was you day good?" This was good. He would genuinely listen to her then ask his question. He just hoped he wasn't being too quiet, even for him! While he asked his Sister about her day, his eyes caught hold of the book that lay on the table. Maggie was always reading, just like most of the family. Maybe she could already tell her Brother wanted to ask something. He hoped she didn't know. As much as he needed to ask, he just didn't want to be found out like that. He patiently waited until he got an opportunity to speak.

Maggie picked up her carrots and started chewing. She loved carrots a lot and she could eat a whole bag in a day maybe even a hour. "Well that is good!" She said smiling at her brother. Ryan was her best friend and brother. She picked through some of her food with her fork until realizing that none of it was healthy or even taste good! She tapped her fingers on the table, which she does when she was bored. Even though talking to Ryan wasn't that boring it was just quiet because the cafeteria wasn't crowded yet.
"Yes, but boring." Maggie responded as she picked up some more carrots. She noticed some people coming into the cafeteria because class was finally over. Maggie couldn't wait for school to end for the day. She couldn't believe that she was excited for it to begin.
