Akai Hideki (last name, first name) is Ruki Okamura's cousin, who has recently just transferred to Eastside High School all the way from Japan. While Hideki is from Japan, this is not his first time in the United States. He has flown down from Japan on a few occasions to visit his now Americanized family, including Ruki. Him and Ruki are childhood friends and have always got along fairly well, although Ruki is often the butt of Hideki's jokes. Playful and often very charming, Hideki is a ladies man. He likes the girls, even though he, like Ruki, can be mistaken for being a girl himself due to the clothing style he is into and the makeup he wears from time to time.

One thing that is difficult for Hideki is English. While he's taken classes of it in school, he hasn't really paid much attention to them and his grades are far from good. He sometimes needs help when he speaks, and being in an English-speaking school will prove to be difficult for him, but has always been envious of Ruki being born American and of his life in America, so he's willing to try his best to improve his English skills.

Something really important to Hideki is friends. He's used to being popular and sociable, so being with just Ruki may be stressful for him for a time until he makes some new friends.

Hideki's pride is his hair. He takes extremely good care of it, only using the best products on it, and always washing the styling products out of his hair before he retires to bed. Although his body may be another thing. He smokes, no quite like a chimney, but if he doesn't curb his habit soon he's headed in that direction.
